His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in Seattle this morning for a first-of-its-kind five-day Seeds of Compassion conference in Seattle. After a long flight to Sea-Tac, the exiled leader of Tibetan Buddhists arrived at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, smiling and in good spirits but exhausted from his travels. The Dalai Lama ended up postponing several interviews to nap and rest before the conference, which kicks off Friday. Even a spiritual leader of millions across the globe needs to regroup. Numerous events are scheduled over the next couple days, including two benefit concerts (one with Dave Matthews), a big gathering at Qwest Field and a Youth Day with 16,000 children and youth from local schools.

Stay tuned for updates on events as the days progress.

REAL NEWS SONG FOR Mr. LAMA:

Hello Dalai!!!!

Hello, Dalai well, hello, Dalai.
It's so nice to have you back in our little town.

We've got a big jolly mayor, Dalai,
solving global warming, Dalai, we've got Hempfest, EMP, strippergates still going down.
We feel the viaduct swayin, Dalai,
while Ballard needs saving, Dalai,
and the Sonics are leaving, even Boeing's Chicago-bound.

So, enjoy your stay, Dalai
Just don't jaywalk, Dalai.
Or you might just end up in Puget Sound.

Hello, Dalai, well, hello, Dalai.
It's so nice to have you back to make us smile.
We've gone to hell, Dalai,
With condos everywhere, Dali,
we're still brewing, we're still spewing,
we're still grunging round and round.
We see the fish flying from the chemicals frying, we've got salmon selling now, 40 bucks a pound.

So, golly gee, Dalai, give us peace Dalai, enlighten us so we can finally see the way.
Dalai, please say you'll always stay,
Dalai we can't face another day,
Who else can stop the rain?
