Editorial cartoonist Eric Devericks may be among those who lose their jobs in the Seattle Times layoffs announced this week, according to Editor & Publisher. Devericks, who has been at the Times for six years, is one of the only cartoonists I know of with a super-cool blog - Antagonistic Ink. Even more disheartening, Editor & Publisher goes on to say that a number of editorial cartoonists have lost their jobs in recent years. The number of staff positions in the field lingers at 80, a big drop from 200 several decades ago.

At least David Horsey is still drawing for the Seattle P.I.

He has to be my favorite living editorial cartoonist - he excells in subject matter, artwork, and being able to convey complex ideas in a simple drawing. He's well earned both Pulitzer prizes he's received.
