Starbucks Gossip blog today links to a review of the new Pike Place Roast, which Starbucks launched this week with much
fanfare. With the new coffee, Starbucks says it is "reinventing brewed coffee while implementing new standards for freshness and sustainable coffee sourcing." Here's what James Poniewozik, a critic for
Time Magazine, had to say:
" All in all, not a bad cup -- nothing too objectionable, a perfectly fine if not completely fresh-tasting cup of coffee that I might expect to get at Dunkin, or, on a good day, Mickey D's." McDonalds-like coffee at Starbucks? That's a problem, according to Poniewozik, who writes:
"Starbucks is staking its future on making a cup of coffee for people who don't like Starbucks -- a McDLT in a cup."
hhmmm.. tastes like coffee to me. Can't see how this is going to transform Starbucks back to the coffee powerhouse it used to be
A few comments need to be made. 1. Instead of spending money on a new ad campaign for another coffee, starbucks should reward their "followers" and lower the prices a bit. That would compete with MickeyDs or Dunkin or any of the other competitors. 2. Make sure that the consistency in the coffee brewed is the same. Many times, I throw away my latte because either they use the wrong milk, they forget the coffee, etc. 3. Make sure the baritas are friendly and are truly enjoying their job. If not, maybe they need to get another job. Granted, not every customer goes out of his/her way to visit while waiting for their product, but when one does, it would be nice if the barista would respond back! This customer is about ready to go across the street to try a competitor! Good luck!
Of course not.
No self respecting Washington resident should ever darken the door of Starbucks again.
Anyone that would sell their city out and then not have the spine to be accountable for it doesn't deserve one penny of our money.
