I was pretty shocked to read about a protest planned for next Tuesday at the University of Washington. According to e-mails going around campus, the College Republicans plan to play "Find an Illegal Immigrant Tag" on the HUB lawn to call for a crackdown on illegal immigration and the securing of American borders. The game has been played on other college campuses, and not surprisingly, has triggered much controversy. In an e-mail sent to some at UW today, the Vice Provost for Minority Affairs & Diversity writes: "While we would not infringe upon any group's right to free expression on campus, no matter how controversial or offensive, we do attempt to offer additional events and activities that provide balanced points of view." An opposing protest is already in the works (9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the same location). It's a pro-immigration celebration, where participants will "express our unity for immigration rights for ALL undocumented immigrants," according to a press release.
I think this is INCREDIBLE! We as a people need to protest more about people coming into this country illegally. It needs to stop!
So like when there are Asians standing around with signs that say "ASIAN SUPREMACY" like last month at the UW, its cool to have a white supremacy rally to 'equal' things out?
Wake up.
Valuing the services of education provided by the University of Washington to out-of-country students (compare concept to out-of-state tuition) certainly could be a valuable contribution to helping the United States with the trade deficit.
When foreign students are given, in some cases, more priveledges and perks than our children, it becomes difficult to tolerate a situation where we seem to be giving away American identities, American education, American jobs, and Americas future.
Certainly it would be bad for anyone to get hurt in demonstrations. Certainly it would be good to have an audit on how the money is flowing; and possibly some actions taken on the information gained.
Diversity is good. Giving away the country is not good.
It only happens in Seattle. You guys are very new to this world. you really don't know what this is about. your knowledge of the world history is very limited and the one who worte about the "Asian Supremacy" is right. This City is going no where... you live in the 2008 and still call each others names.. haha that is really funny. I made a HUGE mistake by moving here. I have no friends from the city itself. Basically people are very slow motion and they really don't care about meeting and learning other cultures. This city is just fake and has nothing to do with the U.S.A.
I'm all for taking a stand on this ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. Somehow, some way, the ILLEGAL ALIENS have got to learn that to enter this Country is a PRIVILEGE. It is NOT a right. No ILLEGAL ALIEN has the right to be in this Country!
I hope that soon all 50 States will step up to the plate and do what our Federal Government has FAILED to do...TO FREE OUR COUNTRY OF ALL THE ILLEGAL ALIENS!
And how exactly do these Einstein College Republicans propose we go about determining who's an illegal and who is not? By the way they look? The way the sound?
We don't put entire segments of the population under suspicion in this country, this is not Nazi Germany. Grow up children and stop listening to hate radio.
