That's the question bloggers are wondering after Liberty Mutual announced today it's buying Safeco for $6.12 billion. Seattlest ponders whether Safeco Field's fate will be similar to San Francisco's ballpark, initially named Pac Bell then changed to SBC Park after Pacific Bell's parent company. When SBC merged with AT&T, it became AT&T Park. Then there's Houston, whose Minute Maid Park was originally named Enron Field. (I guess Liberty Mutual Park isn't sounding so bad after all).
Seattle Metblogs says it's all not likely, based on this line from the Associated Press: Monfried said Safeco would retain its 85-year-old brand name and continue selling policies through its national network of agents and brokers. But then again, minds do change.
