KOMO-TV ran a short piece about the Naked Loon, that hilarious fake news site we wrote about a couple days ago. And what does the Naked Loon do? Poke fun right back at KOMO, of course. "A new Seattle-area parody news website was used as bait in ads promoting the newscast," the story reads. "The story was dangled in front of viewers like a caramel-covered strawberry marshmallow.... However, each time the program returned, anchors pulled the old bait-and-switch." To be fair, KOMO's "teasing" technique is not unique to Seattle TV stations -- interesting stories are frequently scheduled later in the newscast in an attempt to convince viewers to stick around.
Update: Naked Loon's Ash Grimm says in comments below: "Some people failed to get the joke.... It's called sarcasm, people. I hope at least some people were able to appreciate it."

And some people failed to get the joke, as evidenced by a comment left on The Naked Loon story which accused us of "insulting viewers by labeling them unwitting, using corn-fed and banal language that only interests juvenile minds, and taking cheap shots at topics that bore the editor but actually may interest some Seattlites."
It's called sarcasm, people. I hope at least some people were able to appreciate it. I even tried to email the story to Lewis and Nam, thanking them for the mention and pointing them to the good-natured ribbing I gave them in return.
This has made my day. I wish all psotings were this good.
