According to an email I received today, Pamela Sitt, The Seattle Times' Girl About Town columnist, will be leaving the Times to join RealNetworks. "I've accepted a position at RealNetworks as TV Editor of Film.com, where I will be tasked with revamping the TV section, making it more lively and giving it some personality. I'll do some writing and manage a team of freelancers. Basically, I'll be the boss of all things TV! Which is just how this former TV Addict likes it," Sitt reportedly shared with Times Travel Editor Terry Tazioli. Pamela's column on all the cool happenings in the Northwest will be missed.
Pamela's column on UNcool happenings in the Northwest will NOT be missed.
It was mindless fluff. Badly written and not funny. I'm so glad I was able to give the Times feedback. They moved it off Sunday Living.
I can't believe someone with such limited talent has managed to parley it into a career at a major city newspaper and now film.com - but as long she is gone from the Times, I may read the Sunday Entertainment section again. Now if they could get rid of the Geoff Baker blog at the Times (his actual articles are OK, but he uses his blog to act like he's one of the blow hards at one of the sports bars to denigrate those he doesn't agree with or believes to be below his station). If Seattle becomes a one newspaper town, I sure hope it's the PI.
Well, I dissagree with her stuff being badly writen but that kinda fluff writing like she is a teenage girl has no place in a newspaper. She writes like she is the type of airhead that drives people nuts with how dumb she is. Good Riddance and she is going to another class company Real(loser)Networks anyway so she will not be missed.
Jeez! I thought I was the only one that could not stand seeing her face and stupid column in the newspaper. What a deal for the Times. She takes another job, and now they don't have to eventually can her themselves.
Honestly was she so bad? I used to enjoy her columns. True they were pure fluff but isn't that what entertainment is supposed to be anyway?
I'm a girl and I even hated her crap! I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I was just glad she was moved off of Sunday so she wasn't crowding my Sunday crossword and ruining the paper for me. Now she's really out! Let's all celebrate. I just can't believe she's being given more power to spew crap. I have so much pity for those poor freelance writers who are going to have to work for Ms. Carey Bradshaw wannabe.
Boy, I was waiting until someone broke the ice on commenting before I jumped in. Her stuff was insipid valley girl crap and I'm amazed that the paper actually hired someone full time to write about the limited celebrity spottings in Seattle. This is not LA. Sherry Gridaland writing about local fund raisers was bad but Sitt's stuff was pathetic.
Film.com...remind me not to go to that site.
I have to agree. I have read the column probably twice and it was awful. Not even remotely entertaining fluff. Even I wondered how she managed that top and front page spot...although it did make it very easy to skip.
I just can't believe this many people read the paper!
Well, if you can hold your nose and close your eyes long enough to be intimate with David Boardman, you can have anything you like at the Times...
You the man Frank!
Such comments!
I enjoyed the column - it was a fun read.
Superior thinking demonstrated above. Tahkns!
