Humpback whale makes rare appearance here Bookmark and Share

For about two weeks now, a humpback whale has been hanging out in the waters between Point Defiance and Vashon Island, putting on a show for ferry commuters and people on shore. Yesterday, our SkyKING helicopter caught the whale on camera. You can take a look at the video here. Humpbacks spend winters in the tropics and summers in Alaska, so somewhere along the way this one went astray. A spokesperson for the Point Defiance Zoo says it's probably just found a good feeding source - which is fortunate for those who've gotten a glimpse of him. (Photo courtesy of Cascadia Research)
