Seattle's Children Hospital has some sweet perks for employees who bike to work: locker room service, free emergency cab rides, a bike pass and a commuting bonus. They even have loaner bikes at their downtown facility for employees to check out during lunch time. So to entice even more employees give up their cars (their goal is 10% of the workforce), next month they're giving free bikes to employees who pledge to ride to work twice a week, complete with fenders, lights, rack and a helmet. The hospital's bike program is so progressive, Gov. Chris Gregoire has asked the program's leader to join her Climate Action Committee. Children's Hospital is also partnering with the UW to launch Flex Bike, similar to Flex Car. Starting in September, anyone who signs up can check out a bike at several different locations at the UW or Children's Hospital.
