Nominations are being accepted for the governor's annual lifesaving awards, according to the News Tribune's Biz Buzz blog. The awards honor Washington state workers who have performed "hands-on" aid in saving a life. For cops or other emergency workers, the action must not be part of their normal job duties - but something above and beyond the line of duty. Nominees must be covered by the state's workers' compensation system or work for a self-insured employer, and their heroic act must have occurred between July 1 2007 and June 30 of this year.
