Puget Sound just got its own pet detective. The Federal Way Mirror has a fun feature on Kat Albrecht - the founder of a nonprofit called Missing Pet Partnership. She just moved to the area and is recruiting volunteers for her organization, which aims to reunite people with their lost pets, thereby reducing the number of pets that end up in shelters. A former police officer, she uses search dogs to sniff out the lost animals. She tells the Mirror: "People lose their pets every day and they need this service." She's reportedly trained more than 100 fellow pet detectives and written two books. Intrigued? A volunteer recruitment meeting is planned for 7 p.m. June 9 at the Federal Way Regional Library, 34200 1st Way South.
