After getting swept by the worst team in the league - with even the pitcher saying the team deserves to be
booed - the Mariners decided enough was enough and
fired GM Bill Bavasi. "Change is in order," said Mariners CEO Howard Lincoln. So far, the consensus from most blog
posts: It's about frickin' time! Only time will tell if VP/associated general manager Lee Pelekoudas, who replaces Bavasi in the interim while the Mariners search for a new GM, will successfully implement the change needed to turn our Mariners around.
Bavasi was a good guy but a lousy evaluator of talent and unwilling to update his old school baseball thinking to modern times.
The only problem is that Lincoln and Armstrong are still the guys making the hiring decision. Who thinks they'll hire someone more capable than Bavasi?
Me either....
