Have you been saving up for the new iPhone? It's scheduled for release July 11. It will run $199 for AT&T customers, but yesterday AT&T announced it will offer the phone sans the two-year contract for $599, which some thought meant they could use it on another carrier. But apparently that's not so, as the Los Angeles Times reports today. They're just selling the option because "Some people just don't want to be hooked in," an analyst told the paper.
