Say goodbye to oldies on KBSG 97.3 FM. Starting Tuesday, August 12th, News Talk 710 KIRO will be broadcast on both FM 97.3 and AM 710 beginning at 5:00 a.m., reports Blatherwatch. "We know there are a significant number of radio listeners who use FM on a daily basis, but may visit the AM dial only sporadically. In addition, we also know that as the music radio landscape has become more and more fragmented, it's clear that there will be a limited available audience for KBSG's music programming," said Carl Gardner, Bonneville Seattle Market Manager. "We believe we can best serve Puget Sound Residents by instead offering News Talk 710 KIRO's rich mix of news, local talk, public affairs, and community service on 97.3 FM." Blatherwatch adds rumors persist that, with the Seahawks already in hand and the recent acquisition of Mariners' baseball broadcasting, KIRO AM will morph into all sports.

Personally I was glad to hear KIRO has aquirred the Mariner's Baseball broadcast. My reason is simple. It will make KOMO 1000 more reliable for traffic and news. I've always hated when they were to preoccupied with broadcasting the Mariner's Games to report the traffic reliably. The Mariner's being on KOMO 1000 was the only reason I used to tune to 710.

Sports on the FM?!?! EXCELLENT! Now I can listen to the games while driving around town and dont have to cringe every time I get near a strand of power lines and hear the dreaded static that the AM recieves.
Only downside is the oldies station that I grew up listening to is going away and being replaced by an extra LIBERAL talk station.

Anyone know what the last song played was?

I get in the car to listen to music and relax, not to hear someone yelling their options through the radio!!!! I have been a loyal listener, GOODBYE!!!

I thought my radio was playing tricks on me when I couldn't find KBSG on the usual dial. Much to my dismay, I was hearing nothing but "more blather", no "oldies but goodies" tunes. I am 66 and my vehicle and home are(were) tuned in everyday to hear the Rock and Roll tunes. No more. What a shame. I'll be listening to my CD's.

I couldn't believe it when I found KBSG wasn't in my usual FM setting. Don't you people know that many of us listen to your blah, blah, blah all day and would very much like to have our radio set with music...especially the 'Oldies but Goodies' I'm disgusted!

Did any station pick up the "Oldies" music. That was my favorite FM station
