The Seattle Times is now reporting that the city has reached a settlement with the SuperSonics in the KeyArena lease lawsuit. The announcement comes just house before Judge Marsha Pechman is supposed to issue her ruling in the case. More details should be available soon. Watch sports blogs for the scoop.
Update: A settlement has been confirmed, and Clay Bennett says he'll begin moving the team to Oklahoma City tomorrow. Will you miss them?

Down with Mayor Pickles!!!
Bennett & Stern can kiss my @$$.
Nickels needs to be sacked along with Ceis.
OKC lousy hijackers!
THE SONICS belong in SEATTLE!
Period.
Who really cares ?
Nobody likes basketball here anyway, that was proven by the dismal stadium ticket sales.
The northwest needs a hockey team, Seattle needs a hockey team !!

Good bye and don't let the door hit you on the way out. Anytime that multi-millionaires ask blue collar taxpayers for money so that they can build a bigger, better building in which they can make more millions is sick. You want a new arena Sonics? You have lots of money, you build it! I'm sick of providing funds to people who aren't even smart enough to string enough words together to make a complete sentence. Good Bye!
The sonics are leaving and that SUCKS. As far as Jackie Bean saying poor stadium sales... well we are not talking about the Hawks here... it is an ARENA and just like everyone pays for Parks, even those who do not enjoy them... we agree it is a greatest good for the greatest number.
The Sonics are a part of the city and just like most of Seattle Liberals, it is unfortunate for the most part everyone is so narrow minded!
Steve
I'm glad that this is finally over! Goodbye and good riddins!
1/3 of the job is done. Now let's start on the Seahocks and the Mariners...
a peice of seattle is now dead
rip sonics seattle will miss you
Bye bye sonics. I think OKC needs them more than Seattle (have you ever been there?!?) they need something to do besides cow tipping, so have our mediocre at best basketball "team".
good luck.
Good Riddens! I agree, we need NHL! I wonder if OKC needs a baseball team?
Mayor Nickels sold us out for some pocket change...whoda thunk? I am sorry to see them go but I am adament that tax payers shouldn't have to foot the bill to build some Billionaire a place to do business. Even in a robust economy that idea sux let along now when we are scraping to come up with the funds for much needed transportation projects and schools not to mention the cuts in the budget for our police and firemen. Priorities people!!!!
good riddance! now if only baseball and football would leave town. why ordinary work a day people subsidize mega millionaire and billionaire players and owners is beyond me. you would think that people would see the politicians and owners for what they all are...liars and self-dealing sleazy snakes.
How about keeping the Sonics and sending Mayor McCheese and Coffeeman Schultz to Oklahoma?
LET SONICS GO
Buh-Bye!!
I louv the Myor Pickles comment!
$$$$$ Money talks, it always does. Sonics are moving to OKC. What is really the last straw is that the trophy and banners will be duplicated, fine. But know this, Clay, your trophy and banners are COUNTERFEIT!!! The real ones remain in Seattle!! ..!.. to you Clay.
Yea I agree we need a hockey team. Stern is a blankty blank. A bunch of overpaid wimps anyway!!
Who cares!! big deal!!
Agree we need an NHL team. For the few that say get rid of the m's and Seahawks how about we get rid of you. If we did not have them here Seattle would look like 8 mile in Detroit. Bums every where. they bring in so much money. I'm sad to see our NBA team leave but remember we will get another team and they will be called the Sonics. The team name is staying in seattle..
GO SONICS...GO....
@mmbb - "1/3 of the job is done. Now let's start on the Seahocks and the Mariners..."
Just because you do not like sports does not mean that every does and thank goodness. It isn't the greatest thing to have a sports team leave the city and saying that all teams should leave does not make any economical sense. The Seahawks bring in tons of revenue for businesses all around the stadium as well as other cities around the state. It gives people a chance to gather, celebrate and unwind and I am right with QRC on this. We have lost a great peice of the city.
Right on-this hepeld me sort things right out.
