Georgetown residents are mourning the loss of Monstero!, the neighborhood's fanged skull car artists crafted from a 1986 Mutsubishi Montero, complete with carpeted topside platform, a misting system and full disco lighting for night cruising. Last weekend, Monstero! was destroyed by fire, likely the result of arson. Blogging Georgetown chronicled the details of the fire. The P-I wrote up a nice story/obituary about Monstero!, and its owners held a wake for the beloved car last Saturday. "Monstero! was many things - A Mutant Vehicle, a parade car, a party on wheels, a neighborhood icon - a memory of a lost loved one. He brought a lot of joy to a lot of people... We will miss him. RIP buddy," said co-owner Willow Fulton. Check out her photos of Monstero!. (Via Blogging Georgetown and Big Blog )
Update: Willow writes: "The wake went well - we probably had about 20 people come by throughout the day - a nice mix of Burning Man peeps, Art Car friends and GT neighbors. The consensus is..."We can rebuild him - we have the technology" ;)"
