This Friday, Fantagraphics Bookstore in Georgetown welcomes a very special guest: Daniel Clowes, author of the graphic novel series Ghost World. Ghost World appeared in Clowes' award-winning Eightball comic book series. In 2001, the feature film based on the series starring Scarlett Johansson, Thora Birch, Steve Buscemi, and the late Brad Renfro earned Clowes and co-writer/director Terry Zwigoff an Academy Award nomination for Best Screenplay adaptation. The movie also served as the inspiration for Diablo Cody's Oscar-winning screenplay Juno. Clowes' appearance this Friday marks the premiere of Ghost World: Special Edition, the second in a series of deluxe publications from Fantagraphics Books, available for the first time.
