The saga of Seattle's outdoor toilets has come to an end, but the city didn't exactly come out ahead. The five self-cleaning commodes, which cost Seattle $5 million, sold on eBay this week for $12,549, with bids ranging from $1,625 to $4,889 per toilet. The city decided to get rid of them this year as they were increasingly being used for drugs and prostitution, but an initial attempt to sell them online failed. The commodes finally sold Thursday to Racecar Supply of Thurston County, whose owner told the Times: "Wouldn't you think it's a really good deal, considering what they paid for them? It was a gift."
Who ever authorised the purchase in the first p[lace should be terminated! And we wonder why people won't back things in the city.
Wonder what the new owner will do with their new gifts?
The next they want to waste money.Give it to me.I can do a lot with 5 million dollars.Like putting it toward helping the youth in this city.Giving them something positive to do.
Maybe the Seattle politicians could run Exxon. Then we wouldnt have to whine because they make money.
Or maybe Exxon should run Seattle
It's so very stupid to even think this city would put out that much money for five toilets. When I think of how much good we could have done for charitable organizations it make me want to spit nails.
Can someone please list the names of all the city councilmen/councilwomen who voted for these toilets in the first place?
