In an article titled "Up-and-Coming Neighborhoods: Great Buying Opportunities," Businessweek asks "Want to know where the next hot real estate markets will be? Watch where the artists are living now." They surveyed popular artist-inhabited neighborhoods across the country and compiled a list of 15 urban neighborhoods that artists have discovered and where homeowners could see returns in coming decades. On that list: Seattle's industrial Georgetown neighborhood. "Georgetown, one of Seattle's oldest communities located south of downtown, is a mix of industrial and bohemian. The neighborhood, which is attracting artists seeking affordable space, is going through a bit of a revitalization with the arrival of new coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and condos." Now that the word is out, expect Georgetown to be thoroughly gentrified within two years. (Seattle Real Estate News)
And when they do they will run out the small businesses that have been there for decades. My dad works down there and I guess a few new homeowners were complaining about how loud the business was. But the business is open regular business hours and it's been there over 20 years!! If you don't like the noise during the day don't move to an industrial area!!!!!!!!!
I surely agree with the the 10:43 AM writer. I worked in Georgetown for more than 20 years and enjoyed the area for what it was with its most interesting businesses and friendly places.
Georgetown should never be forced to give up its industrial side, just because it is a better place to live than some far off suburb.
The city must be sure that Industrial Zoned areas remain just that and that anyone moving close by should expect to suffer (truck traffic and noise) and enjoy (the quiet weekends) the industrial ambiance.
Sincerely,

Don't forget there is an airport on the edge of Georgetown! Don't move in and start complaining about the cargo jets landing at 4-6 am and departing at 8-10 am!!! Not to mention the dinner time cargo rush!
If anyone is interested in moving there and are already pre-approved
Hit me up at RealtorMichael@Clearwire.net
I work for Loyal Realty in Ballard and have known this was a up/coming area for quite sometime
Sounds like a great place for a deaf community!
You've hit the ball out the park! Incerdilbe!
