I just returned from a week in Maui, and I was surprised about how many folks with Seattle connections I bumped into. There was a lady working in the tourism industry in Lahaina, who had started a restaurant in Seattle years ago. It's called Nana's, and it's still here. And there was a musician at Tropica, our favorite restaurant on the Kaanapali Beach, who graduated from Seattle University and studied music at Cornish. Small world.

This may be off topic but does anyone in Seattle know about the security breach at SeaTac this morning: 3 SeaTac contractors have been detained at the Oakland airport after they used their badges to bypass security? So far only Bay area news outlets are covering the story. SeaTac is refusing comment.

I was on AS 340 and it was a bit daunting to have the plane pull off to a remote section of the tarmac and have the three guys in question escorted off in handcuffs.

I once ran in to some guys I went to school with over in Germany 7 years previously on the deck of a Seattle ferry. Totally random.

My husband and I were in Maui in April and rode along with the local Maui Harley Davidson motorcycle club and found out that the majority of the members were from the Pierce County, which was kind of nice to have a connection.

My husband and I were strolling in Piazza San Marco, Venice during our Italy trip last year. It starting raining, and a dog started chasing us, so we ducked into a bar to get away - only to run into our friends from Boston!
Talk about strange encounters...
