Baconnaise, the "ultimate bacon-flavored spread," has arrived. It's the latest product from the Seattleites who created Bacon Salt, the seasoning that makes everything taste like bacon. NWsource has the scoop on a party held last night in Seattle in honor of Baconnaise, and events apparently included "Mayonnaise wrestling." On their Web site, Baconnaise founders Justin and Dave write: "About six months ago, we got a customer request - we get some strange ones, but this one was spot on - to 'make spreadable bacon, namely mayonnaise.' Wow, that would be good on a sandwich, we thought. Or potato salad. Or as a dip. The list was endless. So after months of eating breakfasts of bacon and mayonnaise to get the taste just right, we came up with a recipe for a delicious, bacon-flavored spread."
Just a caveat: after reading an article, including testimonials about how great it tasted, I tried Bacon Salt. It was awful! (A friend of mine who tried it, warned me, but I had to find out for myself). The flavor is extremely artifical to me, not really like bacon. I mean, Bac-os taste closer to bacon to me than this seasoning does. Perhaps the baconaisse is better? Just one person's opinion, based on the testimonials, there are clearly those who like it. But be warned, there are also quite a few who don't.
I just LOVE oven fried bacon. It is simply the best!
