It's been roughly six months since the "Cle Elum 7" arrived at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest. They are the first residents of the Cle Elum facility, which cares for formerly exploited or abused chimps. The Cle Elum 7 - Annie, Burrito (pictured here), Foxie, Jamie, Jody, Missy and Negra - spent the majority of their lives being used by the biomedical research industry for Hepatitis vaccine trials. Since their arrival in June, outreach director Diana Goodrich says their physical changes have been remarkable. "They were missing a lot of hair. Their skin was really pale because they were living with no access to sunlight so many years. They're just a lot healthier overall, gained a lot of muscle too." The sanctuary has just re-launched its "50 Pal Pledge" program. Participants choose one of the seven chimps to be "pals" with for the year. They receive photos, certificates and postcards to share with friends. And the cash goes directly to care of the chimps. You can find out more here.
Can't say enough about this great organization and what they have done and are doing for these chimps. I encourage everyone to take the time to become a chimp pal. The website is great for chimpanzee sanctuary northwest. Lots of great pics/videos and happenings with the chimps.
CSNW is a wonderful place. The formerly abused and confined chimpanzees are a wonderful inspiration of how to live lives without resentment and hatred. How the can forgive humans for what has been done for them for so many years is amazing. Now they are happy and peaceful and busy! The deserve every support we can possibly give them. Thank you, CSNW
Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest has given a safe home to seven beautiful chimps that have endured more than their share of torment. These chimps have changed dramatically since their arrival and are now healthy, happy, and enjoying being chimps for the first time in years. More importantly, they are safe and loved. I urge you to become a chimp pal and fall in love with the Cle Elum Seven as I and many others have done.
The CSNW is an amazing place... not only because of the seven incredible chimpanzees that have finally found a safe and loving home - but also because of the caring and dedicated staff that are committed to making each and every day a joyful one for the Cle Elum 7. The CSNW offers you an opportunity to be involved with a great cause on a grass-roots level. When you become a Chimp Pal you can be sure that every dollar you donate will directly benefit these wonderful beings that we have all come to love and respect.
