An old boarded-up house in Ballard is scheduled to be turned into facility for the chronically homeless, blogs My Ballard. The United Way of King County purchased the home at 1753 NW 56th St. with the City of Seattle for the Compass Center to build a 60-unit facility for the homeless. It's the first of three or four purchases that will create 150 to 200 units in the city. United Way bought the land for $800,000 and the city used $1.2 million from the Seattle Housing Levy. United Way says once the facility is operational, they plan on providing support services for the residents.

Is this for homeless families or just for singles?

Wow, I sure wish someone would pay my mortgage during had times. Glad I don't live in Ballard.
