A restaurant that recently opened on Capitol Hill got a big royal endorsement this morning. Home entertaining mogul Martha Stewart was in the studio promoting her new book, Martha Stewart's Cooking School. When asked about her favorite Seattle spots, she lit up like a Christmas tree over the new rustic Italian trattoria. "Last night we went to a new restaurant, I think it is only 12 weeks old, called Spinasse. I shouldn't even mention it on television because I want a seat next time I come!" she said. "It's small and utterly delicious. Everything we had was real mouthwatering...A young gang of great chefs have opened this place, and they make every pasta by hand." Now that the cat's out of the bag, expect a bigger crowd than normal at Spinasse this week. Martha says she's headed to Salumi today, the artisan sausage-making emporium in Pioneer owned by Mario Batali's father and sister.

Went to Spinasse last night to celebrate a friend's birthday. Our group just returned from a trip to Italy and the food at Spinasse was every bit as good as what we had there. Didn't see Martha though. Maggie took very good care of us.
