Not only did the Seattle Parks Board upheld nudists' rights to parade through parks last night, the board has asked the Parks Department to "examine the feasibility of giving nudists a piece of one of Seattle's beaches," blogs Slog. The Parks Department will be look at nine beaches staffed with lifeguards over the winter to see if any could go clothing-optional: Matthews, Magnuson, West and East Green Lake, Madison Park, Madrona, Mount Baker, Seward Park and Pritchard. Currently, people can book public pools after hours for nude swims.
And now the people who have never been naked, or think people with beliefs other than theirs will have a field day with this one
Remember even in clothes your still naked under them
There are people who have never been naked? born with some jeans on, I suppose
He meant we have all been nude or naked before
Grammar police (Rolls Eyes)
There are already beaches in Seattle where people
sunbathe nude.
It would be nice though to have an "official" nude beach. (for those of us that don't mind)
Seattle is not the first place on the top of my list to want to sunbathe nude....we only get a few days in a year where its actually great weather for nude sunbathing! I'd rather sunbathe nude in Hawaii or the Bahamas! But then again, we Seattle-ites like to take advantage of the nice days to sunbathe I suppose.
Whatever, I say go for it. For those that can't handle looking at a nude person (they better not look in the mirror after showering), they don't need to go to the designated nude beach anyway. They can take their sheltered family elsewhere since we have plenty of wonderful options to choose from here in the Pac NW.
I THINK IT IS A GOOD IDEA, YOUR WINDOW OF OPPERTUNITY FOR SUN IS SO LIMITED! WOULD BE CONSERNED ABOUT CLOSING THE OTHER PARKS TO NUDEST AS NOW THEY WOULD HAVE A PLACE TO CORRAL THEM EVEN THOUGH IT MAY BE CONSIDERABLY OUT OF A PERSONS WAY.
There's nothing Seattle needs more than a place where hippies can go air out their junk in public.
As usual, the gutless wonders of Seattle Parks Board failed to stand up for the rights of people who prefer NOT to have a bunch of naked people laying on the beach or riding through Seattle. It seems that the moral people who have children and try to raise their children with Godly values and moral attitudes no longer have any rights; the nudists and the gay rights people have the power and the final word. What's next......designating a beach where sex is allowed? Walking nude through downtown Seattle? I wouldn't be surprised. I think that if the voters were allowed to vote on this option, you would see the same outcome as Prop. 8 in California.......NO!!!
Rick,
It seems to me that you're just a little too judgmental and could/should attempt to open your narrow minded view on life a bit. If you're threatened by nude people and gays, perhaps you should not live in Seattle and move to Salt Lake City instead.
Nudity is fine, I don't think it is very exciting. People do tend to look nicer naked, and I don't know what the ruckus is about. We are naked in our home a lot and we are also a Christian family, too. My husband and I would not hesitate to go to a nude beach together--it would be fun and no tan lines! I have been sick with a serious illness and getting some sun EVERYWHERE would be a real treat and sort of fun, too. People need to relax and stop being so uptight about everything. Life is too short, trust me, I know!
i agree with guacamolmom, she seems nice :) being naked isn't against anyones values so lighten up rick, or just plain butt out. im a christian and i wouldn't be going anywhere near that nude beach, but those who want to- go for it. it doesn't mean theyre immoral or that there is anything wrong with them.
And what do you mean people with conservative values don't have rights? DONT GO TO THE NUDE BEACH MORON. Just because the government isn't imposing YOUR beliefs on EVERYONE else doesn't take away from yours. Taking away others rights...yeah thats not YOUR right. Good god, get your nose out of everyones business; let people live their friggin lives, and get down off your cross- who gave you the right to judge anyone? NOBODY.
so tell me, how would naked people lying on a beach effect you? oh thats right, ABSOLUTELY not at all.
its people like you that give christianity a bad name- so next time you have an inclination to be such a judgemental jackass, dont blame it on your religion. that intolerance, closemindedness and hate? yeah, its all you buddy, and id prefer to remain removed from it.
In light of how Seattleites are stereotypically pale, this means that instead being blinded by pasty pale chests/backs/legs, we'll have to deal with full moons in the middle of the day as well? MWAW HAW HAW!!!!
I guess that people wants to find a better place to jerk off other than having some chinks from parlor joints to whank them off for $100 somewhere up North on Aurora Avenue. More options the better, eh?
I am a Christian fist and naturist second. There is a common thought that to be naked with others means that you are trying to be sexually immoral. I have been to Wreck Beach in Vancouver and Sauvie Island in Portland and you don't see people hooking up and having sex on the beach. So why shouldn't there be a nude beach in Seattle. But I for one feel that it shouldn't be at any place like Green Lake. While I have not been to Magnuson in years, that seems like it might be more secluded and be out of sight for those who do not care for public nudity. Nudity is great, but nudist should take care in being considerate and be "in your face."
Keep on writing and cuhgigng away!
