Some movies are so bad, you have to see them. That's the philosophy behind "From Bad to Worse: A six-Week Study in Cinematic Terribleness" series starting tonight at Central Cinema. It all started when Seattle writer/performer David Schmader became fascinated with Paul Verhoeven's legendary awful 1995 movie "Showgirls." He showed the movie to a friend, then hosted screenings of it along with lecture and commentary at the Little Theater on Capitol Hill. "It was very exciting to see that other people saw the same accidental comedy as I did," he said. He toured his commentary show around the country until MGM, who owns the films rights, called and asked him to record his commentary on the film's special edition DVD. Since then, Schmader has added five more films to his roster: "Battlefield Earth," with John Travolta; "Leonard Part 6"; "Can't Stop the Music"; "Road House"; "Rhinestone" and "Gigli." The series shows Monday nights at 7 p.m., tonight through Jan. 12. $7 or $30 for series pass. Check Central Cinema for more info or call 206-686-6684; (Via Seattle Times)
