Saturday in the KING 5 newsroom I was taken by surprise to see one of my favorite TV actors, Greg Grunberg. Grunberg currently appears in the NBC drama "Heroes" (he plays the character Parkman) and he used to be on "Alias." Turns out he was in town to raise awareness about epilepsy. His oldest son, Jake, showed signs of the condition when he was 7 years old. Grunberg told KING 5: "He was having staring spells. To us, he was ignoring us or daydreaming and we would reprimand him and we didn't know that they were seizures." After his son was diagnosed, Grunberg began speaking out to dispel some of the misconceptions that surround the condition. He was set to speak at the Learning From Inspiring Voices with Epilepsy event in Seattle Saturday.
