With the weather looking up for this weekend, you may want to go on a hike at Mount Rainier - for free. This weekend, July 18-19, Mount Rainier National Park is waiving park entrance fees. Other national parks are also onboard to entice people to experience the great outdoors. But park officials warn the increased number of visitors has led to scarce parking at Paradise. They encourage visitors to utilize the free shuttle bus that operates between Longmire and Paradise on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can board the bus at the Longmire Gas Station, which stops at Cougar Rock and Narada Falls on the uphill run, and at Comet Falls and Cougar Rock on the downhill run. On Saturday and Sunday only, visitors can board the bus in Ashford at Whittaker Mountaineering (on State Route 706), which connects with the Paradise Shuttle in Longmire. Go to the National Park Service's Mount Rainier site for more information.

Why is this still appearing as a headline on KING's home page? It's old news and misleading, since the "this weekend" was actually "last weekend" now.
