Amazon.com is saying that the new Dan Brown book, "The Lost Symbol," outsold the hardcover version on the day it was released earlier this week.
This is the first time an electronic version of a book has outsold its hardcover version on the opening sales day. (Via TechFlash).
Can the death of paper books be far behind?
I don't know about paper books all together. Personally I think it might have an impact on hardcover books though....it would be nice if publishers would offer less expensive paperbacks when new books come out. Maybe they could make it easy for those who want them, like collectors, to aquire hardcovers if they don't want to carry them in stores. I really enjoy the lower price of Kindle editions....it's one of the reason I purchased my reader.
