Bellevue Teacher Strike

Is it just me or do teachers make enough money? I read that Bellevue teachers make $55K+. My husband, my 16 month old son and I live in a nice 2 bedroom Factoria apartment. Together we make around $65K a year. We pay almost $1100 out in daycare each month. I get 3 weeks vacation a year, a few sick days and certain federal holidays off, and good benefits. They get I don't know how many weeks vacation a year plus the summer off, 'teacher planning days,' and all federal holidays off and good benefits.

I understand that being a teacher takes a special kind of person. Kids get worse and worse to deal with every year, I understand that as well. Teachers deserve to get paid well and I think they do.

What are your thoughts? I'm sick of seeing teachers striking for better pay (and Boeing for that matter, too)! I'd like to be paid that much a year with all that time off, too.
