Yes, it's true, the Official Bad Art Museum of Art (or as they like to call it OBAMA) will be opening in Seattle on November 15th at Cafe Racer located at 5828 Roosevelt Way NE in Ravenna.
(While the café is open now and the gallery currently has an inventory of over 20 paintings, we expect more paintings to make their way into the gallery space in the next few weeks for the Grand Opening on November 15th.)

We prefer framed pieces but will accept unframed art if it's really, really bad. We prefer original works of art, and if you don't want it back, we guarantee we will never return your bad art. If you have a story about the art, artist or donor, please submit with the piece. Where appropriate, art may be rotated or used in the museum's educational program.
NOTE: Where other Museums of Bad Art may not accept black velvet, paint-by-number or those darn dogs playing poker, rest assured your treasured bad art, no matter what the medium, is welcome here!
All donors will be acknowledged and will be featured in supporting museum cataloguing and documentation.

The website for the Official Bad Art Museum of Art is online! Links don't work here, so please enter http://www.officialbadartmuseumofart.com into your browser.
Oh dear, what can I say? Seattle now has its own repository of art far too bad to be ignored? How simply divine dahling! And the name! I would believe that our soon to be actually ELECTED President (As opposed to the appointed presidunce) would I believe see the importance of displaying such treasures. However, if I may, make a tiny suggestion? It would be prudent I think to adopt the same strict standards. used by the Mass. Museum of Bad Art - and sadly, but necessarily eliminate such things as 1) Dogs playing cards
2) Anything on velvet
3) Works that might cause controversy (as an example, remember MOBA's bru ha ha over the discuss thrower in black socks and shoes, !!)
This is not to say, that a velvet Elvis is not indeed bad art (far be it) however the medium chosen generally reflects a paint by number technique, which sadly does not in any way reflect the artiste's gifts. Paintings of animals playing cards, talking at a bar, or other such, also in general reflects a 'paint by number" technique and should regrettably be considered not so much bad as just "sad" Reflect such (PB#'s) works, with the true angst of MOBA's piece "Peter the Kitty" That work, is truly the standard to which OBAMA should strive, in animal portraiture.

In any case, I am very happy indeed that
We may change the criteria as we mature as a museum, but right now, we do have a few black velvets and paint-by-numbers. If we ever got to a point of having too much inventory, we will then consider changing our criteria.
Thank you so much for your interest in the Official Bad Art Museum of Art!
