Westfield Southcenter Mall closed early tonight because they are more concerned about the safety of their employees.
I work at Alderwood Mall. Many of the store managers and employees are so upset that we are not allowed to close early. Mall management was rude and short with us; we are all stressed about how to get home safely tonight. Clearly, the news reports the weather storm to bring more snow and icy roads.
Alderwood Mall management is being unethical in ignoring these severe weather warnings and dangerous conditions. How can we expect to get home when the buses will also be off schedule? Are we expected to camp out in our stores? Be cold and stranded?
As a shopping enthusiast, I am really disappointed at how they did not clear out their parking lot for their shoppers. How hard is it to rent or buy snow blowers at sears to clear the muck on the lot. Another investment on hardy employees and gear them up with the best snow safety gears to direct traffic and help those who can't get out of the lot. I think the management have invested on superficial investments but forgot to remember customer experience includes the time before you enter the mall. I give Alderwood Management a D- for handling the snow shopping situation. I am regretting that I should have spent my 2 1/2 hours shopping online that getting stuck in their parking lot with all that muck. Seriously, brand marketing and customer service fail.
