December's featured style is BELGIAN STRONG DARK ALES.
Belgian strong dark ales vary in flavor, but all are complex, with a rich malty sweetness, significant esters and alcohol, and a light-to-moderate spiciness. These ales are deep amber to coppery-brown in color and have caramelly and toasty malts. Their fruity esters express flavors of raisin, plum, dried cherry, fig, or prune. When present, the spicy phenols have a peppery quality. And alcohol is soft, spicy, or floral.
