to Raise Funds for Entry Fee and the Kids
Puget Sound's seven Harley-Davidson dealers announced today the details for Olive Crest's First Annual Cruise 4 Kids on Sunday, June 7 and invited all riders to join in the fun. Participants will be raising funds for abused children while competing in a poker run for a brand-new $20,000 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic.
The dealerships include Sound Harley in Marysville, Harley of Seattle in Lynnwood, Eastside Harley in Bellevue, Downtown Harley in Renton, Destination Harley in Fife, Northwest Harley in Lacey and Legend Harley in Silverdale.
The dealers, who are collaborating for the first time ever on a ride, also urged motorcyclists to register online at www.cruise4kids.org to create their own fundraising page and raise funds to cover their $50 entry fee and extra funds for the kids.
"My fellow dealers and I are pulling out all the stops to make this ride as spectacular as possible for our HOGs and other riders" says Dale Bone, the honorary chair of the event and owner of Legend Harley. "We've got a fantastic prize, a great cause, and an aggressive five-county ride that's never been done before."
Bone also points out the all-in-fun rivalry among the dealers to attract the most registrants: "Whoever signs up the most riders wins a special trophy that they get to display in their store until the following year," Bone explains. "So get out there and support your dealer!"
The Cruise begins at Sound Harley in Marysville with a pancake breakfast and on-site registration from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. At this time, riders will also have the chance to mingle with a number of motorcycle experts and aficionados before embarking on their exhilarating ride around Puget Sound. They include actor-AMA board member Perry King (The Day After Tomorrow, Riptide), Scott Hillstrand from the Deadliest Catch, and Harley-Davidson's Director of Powertrain Design Jeff Coughlin.
Maps will be provided offering a recommended route, but participants are free to choose their own course; all riders finish at Legend Harley in Silverdale, stopping at the five remaining Harley-Davidson dealerships along the way. At each dealership, competitors will pick up a playing card. At the end of the ride, the top five poker hands will play to win the 2009 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic. The day ends with a barbecue, band and awards ceremony.
