To KIRO 7 Seattle and all others concerned
Last night on the Steve Rables six pm news show I saw a short little clip about how chopper seven busted a Marijuana grow, you sounded very proud of your selves. Ok you spotted some thing against the law and you reported it good. My question to all of you is do you understand what the cost to the state well be for eradicating this tiny nine plant grow then there will be the cost of the investigation and if they catch the "criminal" that owns this grow there will be cost's for trial and punishment. Some one please explain to me why smoking pot is still illegal for people over 18. It cant be because its harmful or dangerous alcohol cigarettes and cell phones will do more damage to our body's and have a bigger chance of causing traffic accidents. Marijuana is not a stepping stone to other things, fourteen million prototypical Americans admit smoking pot regularly they are not addicted they do not die of a over dose, marijuana is non toxic. Each year 50.0000 Americans die of alcohol poisoning . Please tell me why marijuana should remain prohibited.
KIRO could consider change of tack if you have the balls that is. Dig deep into the facts of marijuana prohibition and the battle for decriminalization and broad cast those facts with out bias on a regular basis. Drop the. 1930s prejudice and fear of reefer madness that is not indicative of the modern news outlet that KIRO IS
Cannabis prohibition was started in the 1930s by news paper baron W R Hearst who feared competition in the news industry and value loss in his timber and paper mill holdings if use of hemp replaced wood in making paper pulp. Hearst used his vast news service to drum up racial hatred and fear of the spread reefer use by black musicians that fear of music extended to the early days of rock and roll in the 1950s and is still around today in the form of cannabis prohibition. The law needs to be changed...
