Project Share - Help others and be green!!!

HELP WANTED - Seattle City Light's Project Share and the Space Needle's TREE FOR ALL www.seattle.gov/light/help/share/

Project Share is a City of Seattle program that helps eligible families pay their electricity bills in times of crisis. Funds consist of customer donations. This year, the program has had to temporarily stop accepting requests for assistance because there were no funds available.

Project Share gets a welcome boost thanks to the Space Needle's new holiday tradition called The Tree for All. It works like this.

Coded vouchers (Project Share -TFA12) are being distributed to various charities taking part in Tree For All - including Project Share. For every voucher submitted with purchase of a full-price adult ticket to the Observation Deck between November 12th and December 24th, $5 will go directly back to the charity that referred the guest to the Space Needle. For every voucher submitted with purchase of a full-price senior or youth ticket to the Observation Deck, $2.50 will be donated to the referring charity.

The organization with the most vouchers submitted during the season will be presented with an additional $25,000 from the Space Needle family to be presented during KING-TV's live coverage at the "Quadrant Homes New Year's at the Needle" festivities on December 31.

Tickets can be purchased in person at the Space Needle ticket booth and online. Guests are encouraged to use their tickets during the holiday season, but all tickets purchased through this program will be honored for up to one year from time of purchase.

To learn more and download a voucher, see www.seattle.gov/light/help/share/

C'mon Seattle let's GREEN UP!

Have you heard of Green Up Seattle? Well, if you haven't listen up because this is an amazing program that allows you to not only make a difference, but bring more green power to the Northwest. By enrolling in Green Up, you can purchase green power for a portion of your electricity use and demonstrate your support for wind power and other new renewable sources (like solar and biomass). Seattle City Light's wind energy comes from the Stateline Wind Project near Walla Walla, WA, which is one of the largest wind farms in the U.S.

Choosing Green Up! reduces our reliance on fossil fuels, improves air quality and helps reduce the growth of climate-warming emissions. The Green Up program is Green-e certified and fulfills LEEDTM Project green power requirements.

Ok so here's the deal. You simply agree to pay a little bit more each month and you will get $25 towards an order on www.Spud.com. So for as little as $3 a month (or $6 or $12) you can make a 25%, 50% or 100% commitment and get local, organic groceries delivered right to your door! Spud.com is a northwest home food delivery service and we have teamed up with them to make this an offer you can't pass on (good through December 31st, 2008.)

We pay about $3 for our lattes per day so pass for one day and make Seattle a greener place.

Check out www.greenupseattle.org or call 206-684-8822 for more info. Let's all work together and pitch in. It's that extra mile that makes the difference, and it always helps if you've got some food right?

Here at Seattle City Light we take pride in providing "green" energy for our customers. We realize that we all need to work together to reduce our carbon footprint and do everything we can to make renewable energy accessible and affordable.

West Seattle Second Grade Children Make an Impact Around the World

Who would think that popcorn could make a difference in the lives of people in Asia? Some second grade children at Shorewood Christian School, a ministry of Shorewood Foursquare Church, in West Seattle thought so. Mrs. Beth Gatlin, second grade teacher at Shorewood Christian, shared with her class last year about how they could make a difference; they could have an impact on lives. Last year, her class chose to help support a non-profit organization, Gospel for Asia. They had learned that the missionaries in India had to walk many miles from village to village and that they were requesting bicycles. This second grade class began selling popcorn after school for $.50/bag to raise the funds for these missionaries. Their goal was to provide 5 bicycles for these missionaries, at $105/bike. They met this goal by Christmas last year.

Now this year, this second grade class is selling popcorn again for missionaries in India, and also to help an orphanage, Homes of Life, in Costa Rica buy Spanish books. The missionaries in India need help to put in wells by their churches. These wells will provide water for the villages. Each well cost $1000 to put in. Mrs. Gatlin explained their enthusiasm, "After last year's success of meeting our goal by Christmas, this year's second grade class decided to sell popcorn throughout the entire school year to help the missionaries in India put in wells, but then we learned that the Homes of Life Orphanage in Costa Rica was in need of Spanish books. So our kids decided to raise funds for both projects. The kids love selling the popcorn and are excited that it is their way of giving back and having impact on lives."

Tim Lorenz, Principal of Shorewood Christian School, stated, "These are lessons that hopefully these children will take with them the rest of their lives. I believe these children are learning to be world changers, and it starts with caring about others first and giving back."

If you would like to help this second grade class in raising funds, you may bring a donation to the school office at Shorewood Christian School, 10300 - 28th Ave SW - Seattle, WA 98146, or call the school office at 206-933-1056. In the meantime, next time you're eating a bag of popcorn, remember there are West Seattle 2nd graders making a difference around the world!

Seattle band "The Bouchards" release debut CD

Seattle band "The Bouchards" released their debut CD "High Water Line" today on Double Dice Records.

The Bouchards play Country, Rock, and Americana style music and have been compared to artists such as Wilco, John Hiatt, Steve Earle, Tom Petty, and Gary Allan. The Bouchards bring tight vocal harmonies, driving guitars, and an atmospheric blend of pedal steel and keyboards to intimate tales of love, loss and renewal.

The Bouchards' lineup features Dennis Tevlin on acoustic guitar and vocals, Bill Preib on electric guitar and vocals, Bob Kahr on drums and vocals, Geoff Duncan on electric bass guitar, and "Country Dave" Harmonson on pedal and lap steel guitar.

"The Bouchards rocked Jules Maes Saloon while patrons paired off to do what Seattle crowds almost never do - dance! Couples twirled, swayed and bopped around the floor while the band pounded out a mix of country classics and fiery originals." (Seattle Sound Magazine, March 2008)

Has a traffic ticket gotten you down?

I am so confident that the lawyers at my office can get your traffic ticket dismissed that I will pay your fines and other court costs if we don't!

TRAFFIC TICKETS DISMISSED!

If you have received a traffic ticket in Western Washington, then you should know that there are many ways the lawyers at my office can fight your ticket and keep it off of your driving record.

Before you can be found guilty of a contested traffic ticket, several things must have been done properly. For example, the police officer must fill out the infraction paperwork and submit an affidavit to the court. Then, if you request a hearing, a court clerk must schedule you a timely hearing and mail you certain paperwork. Finally, the prosecutor must supply the evidence against you once it has been properly requested. These are just a few of the rules that must be followed in every case. An experienced lawyer knows what rules must be followed, and how to see if they were followed in your particular case.

IF THE RULES WERE NOT FOLLOWED IN YOUR CASE THE LAWYERS AT MY OFFICE CAN GET THE TICKET DISMISSED SO THAT IT NEVER SHOWS UP ON YOUR DRIVING RECORD!

My office gets most (approximately 80%) of our traffic infractions dismissed. Hiring my office to fight your traffic ticket will usually save you money that would have been spent paying for increased insurance rates. Since most courts don't require you to appear if you have hired a lawyer, you won't lose money missing work to defend your ticket.

Fighting a ticket received in Western Washington
is as easy as 1-2-3. Go to http://www.lawofficesofheidihunt.com/trafficticketdefense.html
to get started now.

We support the multi-family update that the mayor has proposed. In particular, the requirement of mandatory design review for all multi-family projects is a major step forward. We have prepared a presentation to help explain the new proposal to the public & facilitate a discussion about the future of multi-family housing in Seattle. Our next presentation will be at:

Attorney's computers seized in woman's complaint
Her identity used on adult Web site

By SCOTT GUTIERREZ
P-I REPORTER

Seattle police seized computers and other electronic equipment from a state assistant attorney general's home as part of an investigation into a woman's complaint that someone impersonated her on an adult Web site, according to a search warrant recently filed in King County Superior Court.

Between December 2006 and May 2008, the victim received 25 to 30 calls from people looking to have sex with her, according to the warrant. The callers claimed to have met her and arranged sexual encounters through adult Web sites such as Adult Friend Finder and Fling.com, according to court documents.

No charges have been filed. Seattle police still were investigating and the case had not been referred to the King County Prosecutor's Office for a charging decision, spokesman Dan Donohoe said.

The victim first made a complaint to police in April 2007 and was referred to the FBI. Two months later, an FBI agent opened a case and tracked down several of the people who had called her. They, in turn, provided information that police used to single out several online profiles that were created to pose as the woman, court documents say.

According to court documents, the woman was called for the first time on Christmas Day 2006 by a Tacoma couple expecting to meet for sex. Other calls came from New York, Florida and California.

This summer, on July 30, Seattle police joined the investigation and obtained a warrant to search the attorney's home in Kirkland for potential evidence of identity theft and telephone harassment, court documents say.

The warrant was served July 31. Investigators seized several items, including a laptop, 16 CDs, a USB drive, two digital cameras, a Minolta 35 mm camera and some paperwork and notes, court documents say.

A federal grand jury had subpoenaed Adult Friend Finder and Yahoo.com for records from e-mail accounts linked to the fake online profiles. Police learned that someone accessed the profiles several times from a Comcast account registered to the assistant attorney general.

Records also showed one login from an account belonging to another Kirkland man, although police suspect the second man's information may have been provided by mistake, court documents say.

The victim recognized the lawyer as her former neighbor in Madison Park. She also informed police that she previously worked with the attorney's wife, who is a television reporter at KING/5.

Calls to the attorney and his wife were not returned Tuesday. The P-I is not naming anyone because no charges have been filed.

The Attorney General's Office is monitoring the investigation but has not taken action against the attorney's employment, spokesman Dan Sytman said Tuesday.

The attorney represents the state Department of Social and Health Services on child abuse and custody cases, he said.

There was no indication that the alleged conduct took place on state time or on state equipment, he said.

"We've been assured that information from the investigation will be shared with us on a frequent basis," Sytman said.

An FBI agent conducted surveillance of the attorney's property on July 28 and scanned for wireless networks to determine if there were any unsecured signals that could have been hacked by another user. Protected signals require the customer to enter a password to access wireless Internet.

The FBI agent found no unsecured wireless signals immediately around the attorney's home, but did detect one about 40 yards away, court documents say.

CA Commissioner Proposes Pay-As-You-Drive

The Insurance Commissioner of California, Steve Poizner, has proposed an option for California consumers: pay-as-you-drive. If implemented, this would give motorists the chance to pay how far they've driven-- and theoretically, the more miles driven the more risk.

The mileage is based mostly on estimation, however the mileage would now be verified by odometer readings, automotive repair records, or a technological device.

The regulations would prohibit insurance companies from requiring policyholders to participate in this program, however companies may give discounts for participating.

The proposition is also supposed to have a green effect. According to the Environmental Defense Fund, they estimate that if 30% of California residents participate, California will be spared 55 million tons of CO2 between 2009-2020-- the equivalent of taking 10 million cars of the road. And furthermore, this would save $40 billion dollars in car-related expenses for vehicle owners.

In addition to the vehicle savings, the pay-as-you-drive program may be perfect for a large demographic of part-time drivers: teens. Since some companies do not offer part-time operator discounts, this would ensure that the young drivers are literally paying only what they are driving which would theoretically save them (and parents) huge premium every year.

Thank you to Insurance Journal.

Not quite a nice stay at Western State Hospital

A 48 day stay at Western State Mental Hospital was down right scary. The hospital CEO was replaced. The staff is severly understaffed now on the books they most likely have bare minimum of personel. The first week I was there I was assaulted by another lovely guest who liked to extort food from the smaller guests. Well I took the hit and did not fight back untill I was asked if I wanted to press charges and I asked if he had asaulted any other people there and the answer was yes and so my answer was yes as well. This person was returned to jail by the end of the week. Some times turning the other cheek has the benifit of being able to use your mouth in stead of your fists.
Now in the hospital the is something called a "code GREEN" this is a call for help by staff across all wards (sections) from any and all avalible staff usally to combat a fight, an attack, or some other emergency. I was in Ward Forensic 6 or F6. There were 2 Code Green that occured that endangered both staff and guest which totaled 29 including myself. The first Code Green happened when there was only one staff member in the Ward (1 staff for 29 guest???) it was not as critical as the latter call for help. The second Code Green was the critical one as patient was threatening staff and moderatly injured a staff member's knee in the malay and another staff member recieved very minor injury. This took place in a three day period with the day in the middle being interesting as well you see a Lakewood Police officer was dispached to the hospital and put one of the staff from F6 in handcuffs in the ward infront of some of the patients and was escorted off property. My point is what would have been the outcome if the violent Code Green had happened when the was but one staff member one the ward!
